Noch mehr Motivation!

Jaja, mein Kapuzengilet hat mir ja schon Lust gemacht noch was zu stricken. Und dann find ich heute das blog von der tagträumerin. Die hat sich nämlich eine ganz nette Herausforderung ausgedacht: “12 Monate + 12 Stoffe = 12 heiß geliebte Kleidungsstücke”. Da möcht ich doch glatt miteinsteigen! Zwar werde ich nicht nur nähen sondern auch stricken, bedrucken und was sich halt so ergibt. Für Jänner zähle ich das Gilet schon mal, was nicht heißt dass ich nicht noch was mache.

Today i discovered the blog of tagträumerin and her challenge of "12 months + 12 fabrics = 12 dearly beloved garments". I want to take on that challenge too, but i will sew, crochet, knit, print and whatever comes to my mind! I count the waistcoat for January, which doesn´t mean i wont make something else too.

Nun was anderes: wir haben seit gestern einen Kleiderschrank (um den symbolischen Preis von 1€ bekommen, juhuu :). Für manche mag das ja nicht erwähnenswert sein, für mich aber schon weil es mein erster eigener Kleiderschrank ist. Zwar teil ich ihn natürlich mit H. aber trotzdem. Daran muss ich mich erst gewöhnen. Bis jetzt war mein Gewand nämlich immer in irgendwelchen Übergangslösungen an verschiedenen Orten in der Wohnung verteilt. Und jetzt: alles an einem Platz, übersichtlich und vor allem vor Katzenhaaren geschützt. Und er ist soooo riesig. Ich hab vorher nie bemerkt, dass Kleiderschränke so riesig sind.
Langsam finden die Dinge in der neuen Wohnung ihren Platz. Im Wohn- und im Esszimmer dauert es zwar etwas länger, weil das eine oder andere Möbel noch abgeschliffen oder sonstwie umgebaut werden muss, aber es wird. Schön langsam, ohne überstürzte Möbelkäufe. Damit man sich an die neu gewonnene Weite gewöhnen kann. So hab ich mir das vorgestellt :)
Oh, und heute lag zum ersten Mal richtig Schnee:

Change of subject: since yesterday we have a wardrobe. This may not be a big deal for everyone, but for me it is. It´s my first very own wardrobe! Before my clothes were spread over several temporary solutions. Surely, i share it with H. but it´s not a patch on the situation before. It´s somehow a bit frightening for me, because this cupboard is soooo huge. Seeing my clothes inside looks like i have really few, but i wont let this get to my head.
Slowly everything finds its place in the new apartment. Some rooms are evolving more slowly than others, but thats okay. No hurried furniture purchases, so we can get used to the new space. Just as i imagined it :)
Oh and today we had the first mentionable snow.

Für.......mein Kapuzengilet! Die Fertigstellung hat sich etwas verzögert, weil eine gewisse Kapuze nicht so wollte wie ich. Ein bisschen mehr als sechzehn Knäuel Wolle hab ich gebraucht und an Zeit genau eine Woche. Bisher hab ich noch nie so was großes gestrickt und dementsprechend bin ich schon stolz auf mich, auch wenns nicht 100% perfekt geworden ist. Perfekt wär ja eh fad.
Als nächstes ist jetzt der seit Monaten unfertig auf der Schneiderpuppe hängende Kapuzenpullover dran. Irgendwie war da so eine Mauer in meinem Kopf, dass ich einfach nicht wusste wie ich ihn fertig nähen soll. Bis mich gestern eine liebe Freundin besucht hat und ZACK hatten wir die Lösung! Tja, it takes two...

It is....(drums please)... a hooded body warmer! I actually finished it today, because the hood didn´t work out at the first attempt. I needed a little more than sixteen balls of wool and it took one week to finish it. It´s the first big thing i ever knitted and so i am a little proud on myself, though it´s not 100% perfect. But who cares, perfect is lame anyway.
My next goal is to finish the pullover that has been hanging on my dress form for months now. I somehow had no idea how to finish it, but when a good friend visited me yesterday we had the solution in less than five minutes. I guess it really did take two...

Fast fertig bin ich, mit meinem Strickprojekt. Hab vergangenen Montag die Wolle dafür gekauft und beim Bezahlen bin ich auch kurz vor Schreck erstarrt, aber Qualität hat eben ihren Preis. Und der hat als Ansporn gereicht das "Ding" diesmal auch wirklich zügig fertig zu stricken und nicht wie sonst dahin zu trödeln. Der Anfang war wirklich nervig, ich hasse die ersten paar Reihen auf Rundstricknadeln, da verdreht und verzieht sich alles... aber wenn man erst einmal zehn fünfzehn Zentimeter hat dann strickt es sich wie von allein. Und es ermutigt unheimlich wenn man sieht wie die zwanzig!! Knäuel dahinschwinden. Heute abend (spätestens) ist es fertig. Dann folgen auch Fotos, versprochen :)

...with my knitting project. I started on monday after buying twenty!! balls of wool. I have never before bougt so many balls at once and therefore got a little shock when i payed for them. I know, quality has its price. So i had enough motivation to pull this whole project through without procrastinating and knitted like mad during the last days. Today it will be finished and i will post some pictures of it, promised!

Außerdem möcht ich wieder öfter kochen und neue Rezepte ausprobieren. Im Winter werd ich nämlich immer ganz kochfaul und verlier dadurch irgendwie auch ein bisschen die Lust am Essen. Ein Kochplan für die ganze Woche wär da vielleicht kein Fehler, mal sehn...

Den Schmetterling oben hab ich übrigens vom Präparationskurs mitgenommen. Weil er keinen Kopf mehr hat wollte ihn niemand. Ich find ihn wunderschön.

Feschmarkt die Zweite.

Oder eigentlich Dritte. Nur hab ich den ersten Feschmarkt vor einem Jahr versäumt. Diesmal hab ich sogar was gekauft:
This weekend the "Feschmarkt" took place in Vienna again. Its a market where young designers sell their stuff (like etsy but in real life :). This time I actually bought something:

Zwei süße besiebdruckte Papiersackerl von pinkflamingos. Die Wa(h)lkarte ist die Visitenkarte von motmot und war gratis. Hätt ich aber vermutlich auch gekauft (aber so ists natürlich noch schöner :)

Das Sackerl kam mir sehr gelegen und wurde gleich als Geschenkverpackung eingesetzt. Einpacken kann ich nämlich irgendwie gar nicht. Und so ist die Verpackung auch noch wiederverwendbar; ein schöner Nebeneffekt! (Notiz an mich: merken für Weihnachten!)
The bag turned out to be a nice packing for a birthday present. I suck at packing presents neatly, so it came quite handy. And the whole packing was reusable, nice side effect! (note to me: remember for christmas presents!)

Mit den Steckperlen hab ich auch ein paar Prototypen gemacht (oben) bis ich dann den Dreh raus hatte. Diagonale Perlen halten nämlich leider nicht besonders gut zusammen.

I also made some prototypes with the ironing beads, until i had the knack of it. The diagonal beads dont stick together very well, so i had to alter the feet.

Abends waren wir dann noch auf einem Perchtenlauf. Kalt wars und die Perchten waren in einem abgezäunten Areal, so hab nicht mal ich mich gefürchtet. Aber irgendwie kamen sie mir vor wie Tiere im Zoo, gezähmt und zu Fotomotiven degradiert. Schade irgendwie.

Manchmal vergess ich unter all dem Nebel, der hier zurzeit herrscht, dass in mir die Sonne immer scheinen kann. Dann kommen da zum Glück kleine Freuden und erinnern mich daran.

Gemütlich ist es noch nicht. Zwar ist alles schon da, aber wohin mit welchem Möbel wissen wir noch nicht so richtig. In manchen Räumen hallt es, wenn man redet, weil sie noch so leer sind. Gestern haben wir endlich auch fast alle meine Pflanzen geholt und jetzt fühl ich mich schon ein ganzes Stück wohler in der neuen Wohnung. Wieviel sie ausmachen haben wir erst gemerkt, als sie nicht da waren.

Was mir jetzt schon sehr gefällt ist der Ausblick, den man von den verschiedenen Seiten hat:

It´s not cozy yet. All of our stuff is already here, but it´s not arranged in the rooms. In some rooms your voice is reverberating because they are still so empty. Yesterday we finally brought almost all of my plants to our new appartment, and it does really make the rooms more homelike.

Natürlich haben wir jetzt für den vielen Platz fast zu wenige Möbel, aber wir wollen uns auf das notwendigste beschränken und die Fläche stattdessen mit Textilien und Pflanzen füllen. Sessel zum Beispiel hatten wir gar keine, jetzt haben wir schon vier. Einen am Flohmarkt gekauft und drei geschenkt bekommen. Zwei davon muss ich aber noch restaurieren (juhuu, ein Projekt!!). The new appartment is (a lot) bigger than our old one and so it seems like we have too little furniture, but i guess we´ll keep it minimalistic and work with textiles and stuff that´s easy to change. We had no chairs at all and now we have already four. I bought one at a flea and the other three where gifts from the family (i found them in the firewood and asked if i can take them :) They still have to be restaurated (yay! new project for me!). Nach einigem Fauchen, Pfotengemenge etc. hat sich die Rangordnung eingependelt: Mia überrumpelt die Damen mit ihrer Dreistigkeit und fängt nur ab und zu eine Ohrfeige, wenns ihnen zu viel wird. Coexistenz beschreibt dia Lage wohl gerade am besten, ab und zu wird auch Fangen gespielt.

After a lot of hissing the hierarchy was defined new: Mia does what she wants without any fear of the "old" ladies. They are mostly catched out by her boldness, but she still gets slaps every now and then when she´s too wild. I guess coexistence describes the situation best, with some playing tag in between.

Haben heute begonnen unsere zukünftige Wohnung zu renovieren; also Tapeten entfernen, Fugen auffüllen, die komische Zwischendecke abreißen, Spachteln und dann alles ausmalen. Viel Arbeit, aber ich hab die Wohnung schon liebgewonnen. Sie ist den ganzen Tag schön hell, also werden meine Pflanzen gut gedeihen und die Miezen können in der Sonne liegen. Und wir haben heute ENDLICH! den Anschluss zum Kamin gefunden, also können wir doch einen Holzofen reinstellen! Hatten uns schon fast damit abgefunden, dass nichts draus wird.

Außerdem hab ich mir heute ein neues altes Rad gekauft:

Started renovating our -soon to be- new flat; removing wallpaper, caulking, removing the weird subceiling, spackling and finally painting all the walls. A lot of work, but it´s totally worth it, as i have already grown fond of the apartment. Its flooded with light all day long and i can already see H. and me living there. My plants and cats will love it, too, i´m sure.
And we finally found the chimney so we will be able to have a fireplace, which we really wanted!
Ooh and i bought a new old bike today:

Zwar fehlen alle Seilzüge, aber es war spottbillig und man kann alles reparieren. Und es ist superleicht!
Some cable controls are missing, but thats easy to fix and it was oh so cheap and is superlightweight!

Dieses Wochenende hab ich das Stöbern auf den Flohmärkten so richtig genießen können, eines der wenigen Dinge, die mir während der Reise schon etwas gefehlt haben. Das Wetter hat auch schön mitgespielt und so war die Stimmung der Standler sehr gut. Herausgesprungen sind dabei diese Schmuckstücke:

Finally i could enjoy a thrifting weekend again! I really did miss that sometimes during our trip last month. The weather couldn´t have been better, the sellers were all in good mood and I discovered these beauties:

Ich freu mich riesig über die Sachen! So eine Lampe hab ich schon länger gesucht und die Kaffeemühle auch (sie funktioniert zum Glück). Mit der kann man nämlich außer Kaffee auch Gewürze mahlen, und bei meinen Ausflügen in die Vedische Küche ist das bestimmt ganz nützlich. Der Polster und der Topf sind Spontankäufe, was ich eigentlich in Zukunft einschränken möchte, um nicht irgenwann unter einem Berg aus Flohmarktkrempel zu ersticken, aber da konnt ich nicht widerstehen. Vielleicht find ich ja irgendwann den passenden Deckel dazu auch noch.
Nun zu was anderem: Ich habe ja einige alte Kameras. Mit einer davon, der Agfa optima, hab ich endlich einen ganzen 36er Film ausgeknippst und die Bilder sind mal richtig schön geworden. Sie haben alle so einen romantischen Weichzeichner Effekt:

I´m really happy over these! I´ve already searched for a lamp like this and also for an electric coffee mill, so i can shred herbs for vedic recipes. The pillow and the pot are spontaneous purchases (which i usually want to avoid so that i would not suffocate under a pile of useless rubbish one day) but i really couldn´t resist. Maybe I´ll find the corresponding lid some day.
Other subject: I´ve finally shot the whole film with my Agfa optima and i think the Pictures turned out pretty neat. They all have this romantic slightly diffused look:

Wieder zuhause in Wien. Die Umstellung vom Leben im Bus auf die Wohnung ist zwar noch ein kleiner Kulturschock, aber das ist jedes Jahr das gleiche. In ein zwei Wochen ist das bestimmt überwunden. Mia hat sich in die Wohnung sofort gut eingelebt und ist pausenlos am Spielen. Morgen gehts zur Tierärztin und dann wissen wir hoffentlich bald, ob sie ganz gesund ist und die beiden großen Katzendamen kennenlernen darf.

Back home in Vienna. The change from living in the van to the flat is still kind of a shock but it´s the same thing every year. In one or two weeks we should be over it. Mia has settled down in the flat quite well and is playing all the time. Tomorrow we will visit the vet and check her health so that she will be able to meet my two grown up cats soon.

Two and a half weeks have already past since we left vienna to go to slovakia, romania and finally bulgaria. Time is running so fast and i would want one more month to live in our van, so we could go to Greece, too. But on monday next week we will have to start our way back to vienna, as we will have to go 500km per day. We also have a new member in our family:

She is about 6 weeks old and was abandoned at the parking lot of a big supermarket, nearly run over by the cars. We decided to take her with us and try to find a good home for her. She likes to fall asleep on my neck or in my armpit. In the morning she is crawling on our faces to wake us up.

As every year i have so many ideas of stuff i want to do when i´m back home, like practicing Italian language, sewing ideas etc. and i hope i can pull off all of those and not get slowed down by the daily routine and the city blues.

Die Rezepte im Saftbuch hören sich schon mal lecker an, sobald ich eines ausprobiert hab, werd ich drüber berichten!

Am Sonntag hab ich auf einem Flohmarkt Gewand, Schuhe und anderes Klumpert von mir verkauft

und bin trotz miesem Wetter einiges los geworden. Unsere Standnachbarn waren ein älteres Ehepaar und total lieb. Ich hab mich sogar zusammengerissen und bin keine Runde gegangen, um zu stöbern. Nur einen Stand, der mich von Weitem angelacht hat, hab ich besucht und prompt einen Retro-Digital-Wecker und mein neues Lieblingsleiberl gefunden.

Von meiner Mitverkäuferin hab ich diese tolle ägyptische Kette geschenkt bekommen, und einen sonnengelben Pulli um 1€.

Alles in allem bin ich sehr zufrieden mit der Ausbeute, und froh, dasss ich mich beherrschen konnte!

A Big Thank You, Birdie!

On Sunday i sold some of my stuff (clothes, shoes and such things) at a fleamarket and despite the cloudy and drizzly weather it paid off quite well.

I also restrained myself from buying stuff from other sellers, i didn´t even go around to have a look.

I visited just one other stand and bought my new favourite t-shirt and a retro-alarm-clock.

My friend, who joined me there, gave me this egyptian necklace as a present and a light yellow sweater jacket for 1€.

On the whole i´m really happy with the results from the market, and we plan to repeat it in fall.

Luck is a Birdie!

Juhuuu, ich hab bei Birdies großem Geburtstagsgewinnspiel gewonnen!

Zwar bin ich auf Umwegen zu meinem Glück gekommen, aber ich freu mich natürlich trotzdem riesig!

Zumal ich mir genau die Sachen gewünscht hatte, und zwar:

eine Trinkflasche von Keimling aus Glas und zwei Büchlein; eines über Säfte und eines über leckere Rohkostgerichte. Auf das Saftbuch bin ich besonders gespannt! Vielleicht schaff ich es ja mit den Büchern und Birdies Rezepten das vegane Leben 100% durchzuziehen ohne dabei gleich wieder abzunehmen (das war der Grund warum ich wieder auf vegetarische Kost umgestiegen bin).

So, und wer Birdies Blog noch nicht kennt und sich für leckere vegane Rezepte interessiert, der sollte gleich mal hier klicken!

Jippie, i won at Birdies big birthday sweepstake!

I´m super happy because i won the stuff i wanted the most:

a glass drinking bottle from Keimling and two books; one about healthy juices and one about delicious raw food recipes. I´m totally excited over these and i hope i will be able to pull off going 100% vegan with the books and Birdies dainty recipes. I already tried going vegan once but i lost some weight then, which i really didn´t like, so i returned to vegetarian food.

Der Stadt entflohen...

...bin ich am Wochenende mal wieder, und zusammen mit meinem Freund auf ein nettes kleines Festival nach Tschechien gefahren. Der Bus hat uns gut beherbergt, auch als in der Nacht von Samstag auf Sonntag das schlimmste Gewitter, das wir jemals erlebt haben auf uns niedergeregnet hat; es war gruselig aber gleichzeitig auch schön. Pausenlos Blitze, sintflutartiger Regen und Sturm, die Pavillons (diese Sonnendächer) der anderen Camper habens nicht überlebt. Danach war es am Tag wieder brütend heiß, sodass ich meistens am Bach in einer moosbewachsenen Baumwurzel (ja die war groß genug für mich) oder im Wald in meiner Hängematte gelegen bin. Me and my friend escaped the city this weekend and visited a festival in czech republic. Our van harbored us very well and even survived a horrible thunderstorm unscathed. It really was the worst thunderstorm we ever experienced, with nonstop lightning, torrential rain and storm, frightening and beautiful at the same time. Nevertheless it was broiling hot during the days and i spent most of them at the creek or in the forest, reading in my hammok, where the temperature was comfortable. So here are some snapshots:

...heute mal ein Rezept von mir. Ich hab bei Wurzelweber von den grünen Smoothies gelesen, und dabei natürlich Lust gekriegt auch einen solchen zu machen. Nicht was die Zutaten betrifft, sondern grün sollte er halt sein. Gesagt getan, so schaut er aus:

Today i want to share a recipe with you, but watch out, it´s only for the brave (it may not be dainty for everybody)! I read about green smoothies over on Wurzelweber and of course wanted to make a green coloured smoothie too, so here we go:

Warum also nur für Mutige? Die Kombination Banane mit Rucola ist nicht jedermanns Sache, glaub ich, aber da ich ja gern Geschmäcker mag, die sich eigentlich nicht so ganz vertragen hat er mir gut geschmeckt. Wer ihn vegan machen möchte, nimmt statt der Buttermilch einfach Sojajoghurt, etwas Sojamilch und einen Schuss Zitronensaft, das sollte auch ganz gut gehen.

So, und falls mans auf dem Foto nicht erkennt, das links unten ist Dille. Meine war schon ein bisschen gelb, hat aber überhaupt nichts gemacht. Also dann: Oas, zwoa, gsuffa!

Why do i suggest this only for the brave? Because i guess the banana and rocket combination is not everybodys gusto. For me it worked well, because i like mixing flavours that don´t really fit together. If you want to do a vegan version of this you can replace the buttermilk with soy joghurt, a little soy milk and a dash of lemon juice, it should work as well. And if you did not recognize, the herb in the left bottom is dill. Mine was already a bit yellow but worked as well. Bon appétit!

Seit kurzem hab ich so ein Verlangen nach Farben, kräftigen leuchtenden Farben. Beim Gewand und auch bei anderen Sachen... ich spiel auch mit dem Gedanken mir mal wieder die Haare zu färben (in meinem Fall halt bleichen, weil auf schwarz wird sonst alles schwarz), steht aber noch sehr in den Sternen (sehr!). Deswegen gibts heute ein bischen was Buntes:

Since lately I´m gasping for colours, pure vibrant colours. As to clothes or other stuff... I´m also playing with the idea of dying my hair (in my case it´s more bleaching than dying, because black stays black otherwise) but it´s really still quite in the air. So that´s why:

War heute mit J. am Feschmarkt, ein Wiener Markt der Nachwuchstalente

in Sachen Modedesign, Fotografie, Produktdesign und so.

Da gabs viele tolle Ideen und schöne Sachen.

Leider war mein Budget etwas zu klein

denn die Kette in die ich mich verliebt hab

hätte 38€ gekostet und bei Schmuck ist mir das einfach zu viel.

Blöderweise geht sie mir jetzt nicht mehr aus dem Kopf.

Sie war gold mit einem kleinen originalgetreu

nachgebildeten Nashornkäfer (auch gold) als Anhänger.

Perfekt für mich... tja.

Stattdessen gabs supergutes Eis vom Eis-Greissler,

Erdbeere und Holunderblüte.

Und dieser verhäkelte Mini stand vorm Eingang:

Today J. and i visited the Feschmarkt, a market in Vienna

made by upcoming fashion and product design talents.

I had too little money to buy something

but spied some nice ideas, like pouches out of floaties (soo cute!)

And the perfect necklace for me, a golden one

with a small rhinocerus beetle pendant.

Aaahhh, cant get it out of my mind...

So i bought some icecream instead,

Mein zweiter etsy Einkauf ist heute angekommen!

Ich war sooo aufgeregt, als ich das Päckchen im Briefkasten gesehen hab,

Päckchen kriegen ist einfach toll!!

Am liebsten würd ich gleich noch mehr bei etsy-Shops kaufen,

aber wer im Sommer wegfahren will, muss sich halt zusammenreißen...

Das Täschchen ist jedenfalls sehr gut verarbeitet,

hat die liebe Cat Lady gut gemacht :)

getting nice mail is really the best thing in the morning!

I´d love to buy more stuff from etsy-shops now,

Gestern gabs im Pflückgarten jede Menge zu jäten.

Und abzuklauben (Erdäpfelkäferlarven).

Und auch zu Ernten.

Wir haben die letzten Radiesschen, Mangold

und zu groß gewachsenen Spinat geerntet.

Den Spinat hab ich heute schon gegessen und zwar als palak paneer.

Diesmal hatte ich sogar etwas mehr Gewürze als nur Salz und Pfeffer

und konnte fast schon das Originalrezept nachkochen

(Koriander fehlt leider noch in meiner Küche...)

Ich sag nur: Köstlich!!

Es kam mir fast vor als hätte ich meine Geschmacksknospen aus dem Winterschlaf geweckt ^^

Ich koch ja normal nicht gern nach Rezept,

aber nach DEM Geschmackserlebnis werd ich sicher noch mehr aus dem Kochbuch probieren

(das ich übrigens damals im Papiermüll gefunden hab...)

So, und jetzt noch ein paar Fotos vom Feld:

Yesterday we visited our Pflückgarten and did some weeding.

There were plenty of potato beetle larvae, which we took off the plants.

And also some harvesting to make:

The last radishes, some chard (hooray!) and some grown out spinach.

The spinach went into the cooking pot today as palak paneer.

This time i had some more spice so i could nearly follow the recipe

(just coriander is still missing in my kitchen...)

One word: Delicious!!

It seemed like i awaked my taste buds from hibernation ^^

Normally i don´t really like following recipes, but this flavour experience

disabused me to do so.

The recipe is out of this cooking book (which i found in the trash..)

Trotz Regen und Kälte am Samstag bin ich auf zwei "Outdoor"-Flohmärkten gewesen,

und es hat sich gelont! Bin wirklich sehr zufrieden mit den Schnäppchen.

Nebenbei hab ich noch Gewand um gesamt 3€ bekommen,

also diesmal echt billigst!

Am zweiten Flohmarkt gabs sehr viele Pflanzen, Zimmerpflanzen

aber auch Erdbeerpflänzchen, einen Zitronenbaum, Kräuter etc.

Da mein Platz in der Wohnung ja schon relativ ausgeschöpft ist,

musste ich mich da sehr zusammenreißen...

also hab ich nur die notwendigste mitgenommen :)

Despite the rainy and cold saturday i visited two outdoor-fleamarkets,

and it definitely paid off! I´m totally satisfied with my finds.

I also got some clothes for 3€ - cheapest!

At the second market there where plenty of plants, indoor plants

as well as strawberryplants, a lemontree, herbs etc.

I really had to restrain myself, for the space for plants in my apartment

is almost exhausted....

so i only bought this essential :)

Im Moment fällts mir etwas schwer, Geld für den Sommer zu sparen.

Das schöne und riesige Nachtpfauenauge hatte H´s Mutter für mich gefangen.

Ich war davon zwar erst nicht so begeistert, weil mir der arme Kerl leid getan hat,

aber er hat wohl keinen Schaden erlitten und ist gleich losgeflogen,

deshalb ist auch das Foto so unscharf.

Ein wunderschönes Tier und der größte Schmetterling Mitteleuropas!

Sonntag war ein grauer Tag. Aber der Regen war gut für den Pflückgarten.

Ich hab das genutzt um endlich in Ruhe meine Topflappen zu häkeln,

nach der Anleitung von Schneckenkopf (aber nur aus dem Gedächtnis)

mit dem Garn vom Flohmarkt.

Ich weiß noch nicht ob sie in den Bus kommen oder hier bleiben.

Sunday was a rainy day. Good for the Pflückgarten, but i felt more like

snuggling on the couch. Perfect time for crocheting my potholders

according to the instructions of Schneckenkopf

using the yarn i found at the fleamarket.

Don´t know yet where i will put them (bus or flat?)

Und vor kurzem hab ich Pizza gemacht und dabei viel

zu viel Germteig für meinen Minibackofen zubereitet.

Da hab ich dann einfach Tomatenmark und kleingeschnittene

Zwiebel reingemischt (und gewürzt) und gebacken.

Das hat dann so ausgesehn:

War gestern auf einen Kurzbesuch bei meinem Elternhaus + Papa.

Bin davor eine halbe Ewigkeit nicht dort gewesen (seit Weihnachten etwa),

und es tat richtig gut mal wieder im Garten, bei den Hühnern und

überhaupt in der Gegend zu sein.

Yesterday we made a short visit at my parents home.

I haven´t been there for a while and it felt really good to see in the garden,

the chicken and the surrounding region.

Zuerst war das Wetter nicht so toll, aber gegen Abend

ist doch noch die Sonne rausgekommen.

Wir sind erst einige Orte mit dem Auto abgefahren, weil gerade

Sperrmüllsammlung war, und -tadaa- haben ein super

voll funktionierendes Mountainbike gefunden!

Außerdem noch eine blaue Bratpfanne und eine Petroleumlampe für den Bus,

eine Brotschneidemaschine zum Kurbeln, eine Armbanduhr

und zwei große grüne Keramikübertöpfe zum Hängen.

Alles schöne Sachen, und das Radl ist natürlich der Hammer!

Jetzt können H. und ich endlich gemeinsam mit dem Rad die Stadt unsicher machen :)

Dann haben wir noch zuhause mit Papa ein bisschen aussortiert

und auch einen schönen Müllberg fabriziert.

First we drove through the villages, for there was kerbside collection,

and -tadaa- found a fully functional mountainbike!

Further we discovered a baby blue frying pan and a paraffin lamp for the van,

two green ceramic hanging pots and a hand operated breadcutter.

I´m so happy over these and of course the bike is the killer!

Now H. and I can finally bike through the city together :)

In the evening we sorted out some waste with my dad

and made a nice pile.

Heute sind meine Mungobohnensprossen ihrem Keimgefäß entwachsen.

Ich hab einige mal eingesetzt um zu sehen wie sie wachsen.

Today my mungbean sprouts grew out of their sprouting glass.

I planted some of them to see how they grow.

Die erste Ausfahrt ist bestens verlaufen!
Der Bus hat tadellos funktioniert, nicht viel Sprit gebraucht und wir sind
jetzt absolut sicher, dass es die beste Entscheidung war ihn zu kaufen.
(H. hat gesagt, er nimmt ihn mit ins Grab)

Erst wurde alles angeschliffen und dann zwei mal lackiert

(Farbe "hellelfenbein" oder "Omi´s Küchenkastl")

First we sanded everything and then varnished it with two coats

(colour "light ivory" or "granny´s kitchensideboard")

Ich bin wirklich zu 100% zufrieden mit dem Ergebnis, die Farbe passt genau.

So schön, wie hell jetzt alles ist!

Diese Woche muss ich nur noch Stoffe für Sesselbezüge, Vorhänge

und Matratzen besorgen, dann ist bald alles fertig!

Zum Glück hab ich Osterferien....

I´m really 100% satisfied with the result, the colour looks perfect.

I love how light the room is now!

This week i will search for some fabric for the seats, courtains

and mattresses, so it will be finished soon!

I´m glad that I have easter holidays...

Konnte gestern lange nicht einschlafen und hab dann so in meiner unruhe

eine Schablone ausgeschnitten.

Bin nach ca. 2 Stunden Schlaf trotzdem um sieben auf,

um auf den samstäglichen Flohmarkt zu hirschen

und hab dort auch glatt eine Weste gefunden, die superbequem und weich ist

(um 2€:). Die wurde dann zuhause gleich verschönert:

Yesterday i couldn´t really get to sleep so i cut out a stencil.

After hardly two hours of sleep i stood up yet to plod to saturdays fleamarket

and immediately found a nice cosy zipper hoody (for only 2€ :)

which i smartened up, as soon as i reached home:

Ich freu mich so, dass der Aufdruck sauber und erkennbar geworden ist :)

Dann hab ich noch ein Gilet ergattert, das wurde dann auch gleich

umgemodelt und gekürzt, jetzt gefällts mir sehr gut

(hab leider kein Foto von vorher aber es war zu groß und

hat sehr kellnermäßig ausgesehen)

Furthermore i snatched a body warmer which i altered, too.

(before that it was too big and looked like a waiters jacket)

Gestern hab ich auch meine Pflanzen in größere Töpfe gesetzt und

auch endlich die Kräuter angesät, die mir mein Freund schon vor

einiger Zeit geschenkt hatte.

Ich hoff sie sprießen bald!

I also repotted my plants yesterday and also finally managed to

sow the seeds for the kitchen herbs my boyfriend gave me

some time ago.

I hope they´ll be sprouting soon!

So, jetzt muss ich dann zum Bahnhof, weil ich heute noch nach Niederösterreich fahre,

zu Bus und Freund. Ersterer soll morgen eine Art Frühlings-makeover

erhalten, eventuell mach ich ein paar Fotos davon...

Im Zug komm ich hoffentlich bei meinem Strickstück weiter...(und schlaf nicht ein :)

Außerdem sind in jedem Heft drei Schnittmuster

fully recommend to you, if you like crafting, sewing knitting

Went to the fleamarket today....finally again!!

I´m really hurting for going thrifting after the winter season,

it´s been way too long since the last time.

Today i was a bit later than usual and normally i get bugged quickly when i do that, because there are just too many people after 8 o´clock and you have to coil your way between them while looking for hidden treasures.

But today i was so glad about the shining sun and all the fancy people, that you don´t meet before 9...

I bought a small ceramic bowl as a feeding dish for ma cats. It´s baby pink!

My cats and me and H. are all enjoying the great weather and the sunshine.

Now i´m in the mood for taking pictures...

Today i managed to convince my boyfriend to go for a walk with me.

It was not easy and took some bribe in the form of soup

and some headachekillers - and finally we went outside!

juhuuu, bye computer, farewell physiologybook!

i really needed a break from studying and from being inside

while seeing the sun shining outside.

We did not go very long, but long enough

to gain some energy from the sun and the fresh air.

I took those few pics and then the battery of my camera was dead...

Two days ago i bought these parts of an old kelim.

The seller said it´s from around 1930.

I handwashed them because they smelled like an ashtray,

now they smell like old carpet :)

i don´t know already what i will make out of them (maybe pillowcases?)

but i´m pretty sure they will go in the van.

i´m so excited about painting and rearranging the interior of the van

as soon as it gets warmer...

Bought me this book yesterday and cant wait

to try out the techniques that are shown in it.

it also includes some original templates from yellow owl workshop,

which are lovely as you can see above.

hopefully i can show you some prints of my own soon...

i´m already gasping for some creative work, but my marathon of exams

is not over yet, so i have to be patient....

anyways, i think i´m going to sew or knit or crotchet later today :)

i´m wearing my long hair in a top knot almost every day,

to keep it out of my face and because i don´t

like loose hairs on my clothes and floor.

Often i get tired of that same look day in day out,

so when i saw Lottes lovely braided top knot,

i had to try it out.

when i look at the photos, i realise how much facets

my dark hair has, to me it always appears just as dark as ebony ...

but that has facets, too, right?

so much for that, now i´m back to learning zoophysiology...

so little time.

what you see here is my schedule of exams for the current semester.

The only one i already did turned out to be a fail (=5).

So i decided to cut off the time i spend browsing the internet

and study harder instead.

Sounds logic, right?

Actually i dont feel very happy about that, because

i get a lot of inspiration from my favourite blogs...

so i made kind of a sort out and reduced the blogs i follow

to those i enjoy most.

I hope i will manage to study, meet friends, practice yoga,

spend enough time with my boyfriend, stay in touch with my family

and find some spare time for my crafty hobbies,

and pass all those exams!

and not turn into an antisocial hermit

(like i did so many times before exams)

A ring at my door and few minutes later i opened a package:

It´s a coat made out of old swiss army blankets, i bought it on ebay.

It still smells like the old stuff in armyshops, but i guess that will

go away when it´s worn some time.

I also have to resew it a bit, cause it´s little too big for me...

Visited a fleamarket last weekend and bought this tiny sign for 50 cents.

I will mount it to the new campervan my boyfriend and i bought.

We also went to a medieval adventmarket, where we drank some

honey-mead, watched the fire-spitting fool and strolled through

the stalls of artisan goods.

I took this spoon of olivewood home with me.

And we have a new member in the plant family:

Today i finished my snood.

It´s made out of the coziest softest wool i´ve ever worked with

and the colour is warm grey with a touch of beige.

I´m really happy with it and currently wearing it at home,

because i don´t want to wait until i go outside

(which rarely occurs these days due to my studying).

Cant wait for wednesday to be past...

They are made of "magic wool"...

I´m knitting a lot these days, it helps me to relax

New wool for momma!

i love the colour of these handspun and handdyed woolballs so i had to buy them,

though they were not really cheap, but part of the money goes to Peru

to support the families of the sheperds there....

I will hopefully turn them into a nice bonnet...

Oh, and the colour is called Cinnamon^^

I have been looking for this kind of patterned dish for a while, having it in the back of my mind on every fleamarket visit, but not knowing more about it....

...now i found out, that its a very famous pattern of swedish designer Stig Lindberg!
He has designed a lot of great patterns and now i´m really into them^^

This tureen was sold at an auction house for 750€!!!!

Went mushrooming today with hermann and found these beauties!!

I´m always so struck by the beauty of mushrooms,

they look perfect to me and they are so powerful in their symbiosis to trees...

that may sound crazy but i´m always kind of awestruck of mushrooms...

...now i´ll go ahead and make some good dinner out of them^^

civilisation flashback

I arrived in Vienna two days ago after driving two whole days... cooked coffee during the drive (i do not have a license so i´m always the co-driver) and could not get sleep until 3 am, since i never drink coffee usually....

The weather here is quite cold and cloudy, which i´m really not used to after spending one month in spain and portugal where it practically never rains and you have about 40°C every day...

I would want to present all the impressions from the trip in this blog, so i´ll post the best photos in some posts...

so here we go....

* drive with my boyfriends quad before he sells it

* get my driving license (finally!!!)

* get more plants for my flat :) i want it to be a jungle!

* use cold months for creative work and studying

* mushrooming... i love penny buns!

* get out of the city!

Went to Kritzendorf on saturday with Jacqueline to buy some fabric.

On the way we saw these awesome old locomotives...

there was also a "Tanz-wagon" (=dance-waggon) trailed!

This morning i made this bag, which is supposed to

carry Jacquelines towel and stuff when she goes swimming.

I think it turned out pretty well and she was very happy about it, too.

So finally tomorrow morning i will leave Vienna

to go on the trip to France, Spain and Portugal with Lisa.

My backpack contains everything i will probably need

during the next 7 weeks.... including my hammok,

diving goggles, a snorkel, chargers for my cameras

and lots of drawers^^

I will miss reading my favourite blogs, but

i´m looking forward to catch up on all the new posts in September!

Also I´ll try to make some posts during the trip!

Went thrifting with my sister on friday, and we were both pretty successful.

I found this spring (which i got for free :) and turned it into a pendant for a necklace.

I really love the battered look of it...

I´ve already bought some of those, but they never quite suited

but this one has the perfect size and colour!

I´d like to share these two pictures from last weekend with you.

My boyfriend and i went to czech republic to visit a festival there.

It was the first time since about 10 months that we took out our yellow van again.

Three words: cozy, hot, fun.

Czech people were really open-minded and hospitable;

we got to know a lot of nice people, that we will keep up with.

Sleeping and cooking in the van was also extreeemely comfortable,

we were really happy to have "big yellow" with us.

Just the heat around noon was exhausting, but luckily there was a forest and a

small creek next to the festival-area, so we could avoid a circulatory collapse!

One more thing: had a nap in my hammock and recognized,

that i had completely forgot how cozy my hammock is,

i´m so looking forward to my trip, when i can rest in it, everytime i want to!

Now i´m completely in travel-mood again!!

brought my kitties to their summer residence, so they are cared for

while i´ll be on my holiday-trip.

It really was not easy for me to say goodbye...

...but i know they will be in good company,

since there are living seven more cats in and around the house!

I had some time to practice my skills in photography,

but i still like close-ups best.

Maybe that´s a part of the process for a biologist-to-be,

i often use microscope and looking-glass.

that last one is a sculpture i made at school some years ago.

the task was to form body parts in the "stone" (ytong) while leaving parts of it untouched.

I´ll have to write a test tomorrow, so all i should be doing these days

is sit in front of my pc and learn about the Austrian fauna.

Reality is that I am doing a lot other stuff and manage to learn in the gaps

between... if you wonder if that system is working:

No, it´s not, so I´m again in a hurry like everytime before important exams.

Nevertheless I took some time to visit some fleamarkets

and (surprise surprise!) was successfully finding some new old stuff...

you see, collectors-disease stroke again....

love the dotted one, it fits to the bowl i bought last week

It´s exactly the one i wanted and only one year old!

It came without lens so i had to hurry to get one today,

because i did not want to wait any longer to try it out!

Still have to learn about all the functions etc.

these green leafy vegs are called ice plant (eiskraut in german).

they really look like this without being frozen, so the

small drip-like cells are part of the plant.... and they were delicious!

Mellow and crunchy with a subtle sour taste, i ate them as salad

with few dressing. you could cook them like spinach but i guess

then they loose this light sourness.

will definitley buy them again!

they are from a community supported agriculture farm near vienna, called "Ochsenherz"

where they practise bio-organic agriculture.
